Nd:YAG laser

Nd:YAG lasers are solid state lasers. They work at wavelengths of 1064nm, which is within the infrared area of the light spectrum. They not only work at this wavelength, but can also work in a double frequency mode which creates green light at 532nm wavelengths. Nd:YAG laser hair removal systems are said to be effective on all skin types, including asian skin tones, which is something which other laser hair removal systems are unable to do. This laser treatment also has a fast rate of repetition and can be used on larger areas of skin such as the back and on legs. With NdYag Laser you will feel a similar sensation to a sharp elastic band snapping on your skin. It is an uncomfortable feeling however, some people don’t feel it at all. We use Diode laser which is the latest technology in the UK. It is used without air blowing or ice application. It is used with a spray of cryogen.

Patch test

Our therapist will be performing a test patch. You may have no reaction on the day of the test but you may develop redness or crust a few days later. Please do not panic! It is normal. Use Aloe Vera cream a few times a day on the area being treated. It will improve the reaction without leaving any marks. Do's and Dont

• You can shave or use hair removal cream in between sessions but: NO waxing- NO plucking- NO threading- NO hair removal creams.

• Laser can only recognise and burn the melanin pigment, which gives your hairs its colour. So it can only burn brown, dark blonde or black hairs. White, grey or light blonde hairs can NOT be treated.

• Please do NOT use any cosmetics such as cream, lotion, spray tan or makeup on the day of the treatment.

• You must shave your hairs 2 days before your treatment. Upper leg, forearms and abdomen hairs grow slower, so you must shave 4 days before hand. We just need to see the tip of the hairs, approx 1mm would be ideal. After several sessions of laser hair removal your hairs will grow slower, so you must shave a few days in advance.

• We do NOT perform any treatment on women who are pregnant or breast feeding. So, if you are trying for a baby, pregnant or breast feeding, please inform us!

• If you are allergic to aloe Vera cream or latex gloves or metal, please inform us.

• If you cannot tolerate the pain, you can take painkillers one hour before you come to your sessions.

• You can also apply ‘Emla’ local anaesthetic cream one hour before your sessions. You can cover the creamed area with cling film to keep your clothes clean. Please inform the therapist if you have cream on the area, so it may be removed before treating the area.

• We cannot perform your treatment if you have a sun tan. Even if you have a slight suntan, laser may still cause burns. When we develop melanin due to suntan, melanin collects in the upper surface of our skin, which may result in possible burns. As soon as the laser touches the skin it burns the melanin on the surface before reaching the hair follicle.
